Series: HECLA ISLAND
Series: Rosenberg / Dieter Schmidt
Original Hand Silk-Screened Edition — 25
Digital Giclée Edition — 50
I created the Hecla Island Series as part of a major commissioned art project for the Gull Harbour Resort Hotel on Hecla Island, Manitoba. I wanted the work to capture not simply the landscape, but the character and history of this remarkable place.
Working from photographs I took throughout the island, I was drawn to its rugged shorelines, quiet waters, fishing boats and the remnants of a way of life shaped by Lake Winnipeg. Fishing was central to the Icelandic settlers who made this isolated island their home, and I wanted that history and sense of place to remain present in the work.
I transformed the original photographs into bold graphic interpretations, reducing the landscapes to their essential shapes, textures and colours. The original works were then hand silk-screened, giving each image a quality quite different from the photographs that inspired them.
The series became part of a larger project that included two major dining-room murals, which received an international award from the American Institute of Architects and Kodak.
For me, the Hecla Island Series remains both a portrait of a unique Manitoba landscape and a tribute to the people whose lives were shaped by it.

Series: RIMROCK
Artist: Rosenberg
Lithographs — Limited Edition of 35
The Rimrock Series was created as part of a much larger branding project I developed for the Rimrock Hotel in Banff, Alberta. My goal was to create a visual identity that didn’t simply promote a hotel, but captured the extraordinary sense of place that surrounds it.
I spent a number of weekends flying to Banff, photographing the mountains, forests, changing skies and light, searching for images that expressed what I felt was the essence of the Canadian Rockies. From those photographs, I developed a unique process for transforming the original imagery into these distinctive artistic interpretations.
The resulting lithographs became an integral part of the property. They were framed and installed throughout the hotel, offered for sale to guests, and incorporated into its marketing and promotional materials.
The series was part of a comprehensive branding program that extended from the Rimrock identity and logo to building applications, products and international marketing. I wanted every element to feel connected to the experience of being there.
For me, the Rimrock Series represents more than a collection of mountain landscapes. It reflects an approach I have followed throughout my career — using art, photography and design together to create a memorable sense of place.

Series: PRAIRIE LADY (series 1)
Artist: Rosenberg
Giclee Prints: 18″x24″, ed: 25
I created Prairie Lady as a photographic exploration of a young woman seemingly belonging to another time, set against the openness and solitude of the Canadian prairie.
I was fascinated by the contrast between the delicacy of the figure and the strength of the landscape around her — the weathered buildings, fences, open fields and endless sky. There is an implied story within the images, but I deliberately left it untold, allowing the viewer to imagine who she is, where she has come from and what has brought her to this place.
The original black-and-white photographs have a quiet, almost timeless quality.Â

Series: PRAIRIE LADY (series 2)
Artist: Rosenberg
Hand-Silk-Screened Prints: ed. 10
The original black-and-white photographs have a quiet, almost timeless quality. I later returned to selected images and began interpreting them in an entirely different way — simplifying forms, exaggerating skies and introducing bold, unexpected colour before producing them as hand-pulled silk-screen prints.
What interested me was how the same moment could evoke something completely different when transformed through another medium. The photograph captures the moment; the silk screen becomes my interpretation of its mood and emotion

Series: The Beach
Artist: Andrew Valko
I was commissioned to develop this series for the Penticton Resort Hotel as part of the artwork program for its beachfront property.
The interior designer was familiar with our work but wanted something quite different for this project — a softer, more intimate approach using pencil crayon as the original medium. I brought renowned Canadian artist Andrew Valko into the project, and together we developed a series of six images inspired by the relaxed atmosphere of the resort and its relationship to the beach and water.
The imagery focuses on quiet moments rather than traditional scenic views — a chair in the sand, reflections on the water, a beach umbrella, a canoe at the dock. These small moments became a way of capturing the experience of being at the water’s edge.
The original works were reproduced as lithographs in a very limited edition and installed as part of the hotel environment.
Today, I have one complete set of Artist Proofs remaining in my personal collection, which is now available for acquisition.

Series: Glyphopia
Artist: Rosenberg
Giclée Prints — Limited Edition of 25
I created Glyphopia after becoming deeply affected by the plight of the rhinoceros and the very real possibility of its extinction. What troubled me was not only what was happening to this magnificent animal, but how much of the world seemed unaware or indifferent.
The first image reflects that indifference. The rhino moves through a stark landscape while a bird sits quietly on its back — present, but seemingly oblivious to the danger facing the animal beneath it.
In the second image, I introduced a portal. For me, it represents hope — another path, another possibility, and the belief that the future does not have to follow the course we are presently on.
The individual studies of the rhino, the bird and their forms became almost like glyphs — visual symbols that helped me reduce the story to its essential elements.
Glyphopia moves from indifference to awareness and ultimately to hope. I created it as a reminder that extinction is not inevitable if we are willing to see what is happening and choose to act.

Series: Where the Sky Begins
Artist: Rosenberg
( 5 in series – ed. 10) – Stretched Canvas ; 55 x 22 “
I have always been fascinated by the way an open landscape can make you stop and simply take in the moment.
In creating Where the Sky Begins, I wanted to capture that feeling — the vastness of the sky, the changing light and the quiet beauty of a distant horizon. The fields and birds provide a sense of place, but for me, it is the sky that tells the story.
These works are about stillness, space and those fleeting moments in nature when light and atmosphere transform the ordinary into something extraordinary.

Series: Between Earth & Sky
Artist: Rosenberg
( 6 in series – ed. 10) – Stretched Canvas ; 44 x 22 “
In creating Between Earth and Sky, I wanted to explore that space where the two seem to meet — where an immense sky can make the landscape below feel both small and incredibly powerful. I was especially interested in the changing light, the richness of the colours and the way a distant horizon can create such a profound sense of space.
The birds that appear in some of these works bring another dimension for me. Against such vast surroundings, their movement becomes a reminder of freedom, distance and the world continuing beyond what we can see.
Ultimately, this series is about the feeling I experience when looking across an open landscape — a sense of stillness, possibility and connection to something much larger than ourselves.

Series: Dancing with Light
Artist: Rosenberg
( 5 in series – ed. 25) – 55 x 22 “
I have always been fascinated by the beauty of movement and the way light can completely transform a moment.
In creating Dancing with Light, I wanted to bring those two elements together — the grace and strength of the dancer set against the fleeting beauty of a changing sky. The reflections became equally important to me, almost like a second performance taking place beneath the surface.
These works are not really about ballet alone. They are about balance, freedom and those brief moments when everything seems to come together — movement, light, colour and reflection — and time appears to stand still.
That is the feeling I wanted to capture in this series.

Series: Golden Tree
Artist: Rosenberg
( 7 in series – ed. 35) – Horiz: 40 x 72 ” Vert: 55 x 22 “
I have always been fascinated by the transformation that takes place when a tree reaches that extraordinary moment in autumn when its colour seems almost illuminated from within.
In creating Golden Tree, I wanted to isolate that moment and remove everything that wasn’t essential. The landscape became quiet and restrained, allowing the intense gold of the tree to become the focus — almost a source of light against the soft, textured greys surrounding it.
As the series developed, the tree became more than a part of the landscape for me. Standing alone, it began to suggest strength, individuality and resilience. The birds introduce another element — movement and freedom against the stillness of the tree.
Whether horizontal or vertical, each work explores the same simple idea: the beauty and presence of a single tree, captured at its most remarkable moment.
